Visa has extended its global travel programme to Dubai, one of the initial cities in this initiative, along with London and Paris.

The new programme aims to provide Visa cardholders with unique benefits and opportunities, tailored to meet the evolving needs of travelers and explore the city through premium accommodations, dining experiences, and shopping options.

A tailored travel experience in the world’s top destinations

Visa initiated its expansion in Dubai during a period of increased tourism spending. VisaNet data shows that repeat visitors now spend 45% more per trip than first-time visitors, with the average expenditure being USD 540 for new arrivals and USD 890 for those who visit for the third time or more. These visits are often focused on entertainment such as recreation services, amusement parks, and tourist attractions, which have seen a 69% rise since 2024. Dining and apparel spending have also increased by 20% and 25%, respectively.

The surge in spending is attributable to substantial travel inflows from key markets like Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Kingdom, which are leading Dubai’s tourism. As a global hub for international visitors from over 100 countries, Dubai ranks among the top ten cities globally for tourist arrivals.

The travel industry’s economic impact propels the UAE’s GDP to around $70 billion, accounting for about 13% of the national economy and marking a 3.2% growth rate compared to 2023 and a 26% increase from pre-pandemic levels. Visa intends to contribute to this growth by enhancing cardholder experiences and providing more opportunities to merchants.

Main elements of the programme include personalized offerings across hospitality, dining, entertainment, and transportation, exclusive partnerships with merchants that benefit Visa cardholders, expanded benefits for Visa Infinite and Signature cardholders, and simplified digital booking and secure payment options for travelers.
