The European Payments Initiative (EPI) has recently informed that Nickel will integrate Wero starting in early 2026, further enhancing the unified digital payment solution.
EPI detailed in a recent social media update that Wero will become available to Nickel’s user base in France, Belgium, and Germany from the beginning of next year. This integration aims to provide secure, simplified, and instant peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers for users within these countries. Strategic plans also include expanding beyond this footprint.
Wero is a French fintech company that offers banking services tailored to everyone, irrespective of their financial status. Through its cooperation with Nickel and other leading players in the payment ecosystem, Wero intends to scale its offering, enabling payments for both in-store and online transactions as well as subscription purchases.
Scaling and Support
N26, another key player in the digital banking space, has recently joined forces with Wero. This partnership underscores N26’s commitment to providing accessible, convenient, and secure payment options for its customers across Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
In other developments, Doccle, a Belgian app, made history by completing the first invoice payment through Wero, marking a significant step in establishing efficient cross-border payment solutions throughout Europe.
Additionally, Nuvei enabled Wero’s account-to-account payments for European merchants just weeks ago. This move was part of extensive testing, where Nuvei was among the pioneers to finalize a trial transaction using Wero’s A2A infrastructure.
