Apple’s Expansion of Tap to Pay in Europe
Apple has extended its Tap to Pay functionality on iPhones to include Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Monaco, and Norway. This feature allows merchants to accept contactless payments directly from their iPhones using an enabled iOS app.
In collaboration with various payment platforms, developers of mobile applications, and payment networks, Apple aims to simplify the acceptance of payments via Tap to Pay for businesses ranging in size, requiring no additional hardware or point-of-sale terminals. Any iPhone running the latest version of iOS, starting from iPhone Xs, can be used to facilitate these transactions.
During a transaction, merchants can prompt customers to bring their contactless card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or other digital wallet close to the phone, with NFC technology ensuring secure payments.
