dLocal has teamed up with Bolt to enhance ride-sharing services in emerging markets, offering cost-effective and dependable local payment solutions across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Impact on Ride-Sharing Sectors

In industries like ride-sharing, even small payment inefficiencies can significantly impact profitability. Entering new markets often involves integrating with numerous fragmented systems, which can slow down growth and increase costs. In many emerging markets, over half of digital transactions occur outside traditional card systems, making alternative payment methods crucial for maintaining driver engagement and service continuity.

As the ride-sharing industry is expected to grow, reaching USD 3.16 billion in Africa by 2030 and USD 26.02 billion in Asia-Pacific (APAC), scalable and localized payment solutions become increasingly important for businesses looking to expand.

Bolt’s Integration with dLocal

By integrating Bolt’s services with dLocal’s API, the companies are able to reduce complexity and operational overhead. Currently, Bolt processes payments locally in key African markets like Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, as well as Latin American markets such as Paraguay and Mexico, using payment methods that include cards and alternative payment methods (APMs) such as Infonet.

In Asia, Bolt’s presence in Thailand and Malaysia also supports the expansion of local payment methods like Touch ‘n Go, laying a foundation for further growth. This integration allows Bolt to offer accessible mobility while ensuring secure and convenient payment options for both riders and drivers.

dLocal’s Participation in Fireblocks Network

In September 2025, dLocal announced its participation in the Fireblocks Network for Payments to streamline access to liquidity providers and facilitate stablecoin payments. By joining this network, dLocal aims to enhance how institutions can better connect with over 2,400 participants in the digital asset ecosystem.
