Zimpler, a company based in Sweden that provides Pay-by-Bank solutions, has recently introduced Swish Handel (Swish Commerce) and Swish Utbetalningar (Swish Payouts) for its partners.
Zimpler is now operating as a non-banking entity, integrating directly with Getswish, the company behind Sweden’s most popular payment method. This integration allows businesses to access Swish without needing to go through a traditional bank application process.
Swish Access Without Bank Agreement
Zimpler’s goal is to streamline payments and offer an alternative for businesses to tap into widely utilized payment methods in Europe by providing Swish outside of banks. Until recently, direct banking relationships were required for accessing Swish, making the process costly and time-consuming for many companies, particularly those operating within regulated industries or for international clients.
This move is significant for Sweden’s financial ecosystem, which has faced frequent disruptions and downtimes. With Zimpler’s expertise, an enhanced customer experience with a more reliable payment system can be achieved.
Getswish designed Swish to provide speed, security, and convenience, and by partnering with Zimpler, the company can extend its reach into various industries and clients. As more providers offer Swish access, reliance on individual banks diminishes, enhancing the resilience of the financial ecosystem. Unlike banks, specialized providers like Zimpler can concentrate fully on service delivery, thereby offering superior service levels to end customers and businesses.
This change allows international and regulated firms to provide familiar payment methods to their Swedish customers, increasing access to Swish among both individuals (8.7 million Swedes) and businesses (300,000 companies).
Zimpler could also become a Swish provider for other payment service providers, potentially broadening its offerings and reshaping the competitive landscape.
This development also signifies a shift in Sweden’s financial ecosystem towards greater competition in A2A payments. The launch of Swish has the potential to intensify competition with card networks and redefine the role of banks in the payment ecosystem.
