Mastercard has partnered with Zain Cash to enhance digital payment adoption in Jordan. This collaboration is expected to expand Zain Cash’s card offerings within the same market.

Through this partnership, Zain Cash plans to introduce additional services and platforms aimed at offering new payment options in Jordan.

The official press release mentions that the joint venture will include Zain Cash’s Mastercard prepaid and credit card portfolios, as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) solutions. Mastercard will also assist Zain Cash in establishing an Innovation Hub in Jordan, which will serve as a collaborative space for co-creating payment solutions.

A spokesperson from Zain Cash stated that the fintech is dedicated to expanding access to advanced payment solutions for customers and businesses in Jordan. They believe this partnership will help them improve their product offerings and strengthen their market presence in digital-first, multi-currency, SME, and e-commerce sectors.

Zain Cash provides a platform for both individuals and businesses to handle financial transactions and process monthly payments. Its range of solutions includes money transfers, digital payments, bill payments, and mobile wallet top-ups. Zain Cash was Mastercard’s leading cross-border issuer in Jordan in 2023. In the same year, it launched Mastercard World, Platinum, and Standard cards, becoming the first telecommunications company in the region to issue credit cards.

A Mastercard representative also noted their commitment to using advanced technology to create a seamless and secure payment environment, as well as to increase financial inclusion and foster a scalable positive impact on Jordan’s digital economy. This partnership is aligned with Mastercard’s goal of promoting digital payment acceptance and supports the objectives outlined in Jordan’s National Digital Transformation Strategy.
