The company has been granted a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) licence by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), following its earlier registration as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) in March 2024.

This MiCA licence permits the firm to expand its operations in line with the European Union’s dynamic crypto asset regulation framework. It also helps the company shift from temporary measures to permanent legal status within the EU.

EURC as a Standard Stablecoin for European Transfers

The introduction of EURC, a euro-backed stablecoin issued by Circle, will serve as the primary digital asset on the Sling Money platform. This transition aims to align balances with local currency standards and enhance the user experience for both intra-European and global transactions.

EURC is globally accessible on platforms including Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Stellar. It adheres to a full-reserve model similar to USDC and complies with MiCA regulations.

The company’s representatives state that adopting EURC is part of a broader strategy to integrate local currency stability into cross-border payment flows. The goal is to simplify money transfers and better align them with regional financial practices.

MiCA establishes a unified legal framework for crypto asset service providers across the 27 EU member states, aiming for greater consistency and oversight in the crypto sector. This licence enables Avian Labs Netherlands B.V. to offer its digital finance services under this harmonised structure, potentially expanding access to these services throughout the EU.
