Network International has introduced mobile money capabilities to its N-Genius point-of-sale terminals in Ghana after partnering with Blu Penguin.

The partnership now enables merchants using Network International’s equipment to accept payments from multiple mobile money providers, enhancing digital payment accessibility within the country. This rollout solidifies Network International’s role as a third-party payment processor in Ghana and seeks to unify card and mobile money transactions through a single user interface for banks and merchants.

Mobile-first Integration Eyeing West African Markets

Blu Penguin’s mobile-first platform is now integrated into Network International’s acquiring infrastructure. This backend setup supports real-time mobile money transactions and can be used across major telecom networks. Officials from Blu Penguin stated that the integration aims to simplify payment processing for both financial institutions and merchants, as well as drive broader adoption of digital payments in the region.

Network International has highlighted that this move will provide businesses with more flexible payment options via existing hardware, catering particularly to customers who do not rely on traditional banking services. The company sees this partnership as a significant step towards improving payment infrastructure in West Africa, focusing on accessibility and efficiency.

The service has been activated in Ghana initially, and plans are underway for expansion into other Sub-Saharan African markets where Network International operates. Currently, Blu Penguin serves Côte d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in addition to Ghana.
