Trading and investing platform eToro has announced the receipt and activation of its Capital Markets Services (CMS) licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Expansion into Singapore
With this new CMS licence, eToro can now broaden its services in Singapore. The license enables eligible retail investors to access stocks from more than 20 global stock exchanges, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and derivatives through the social investing platform.
The company has also appointed key leadership roles focused on developing eToro’s presence in Singapore and expanding its overall footprint in Asia.
Key Features of eToro
Users can visualize other investors’ portfolios and statistics, interact with them to exchange ideas and discuss trading strategies. Additionally, customers can practice trading using eToro’s Virtual Portfolio and access free financial education resources through the eToro Academy.
Significance of Expansion in Singapore
Representatives from eToro stressed that this expansion is a significant achievement for the company, given the region’s status as one of the most dynamic financial markets in Asia-Pacific and its role as a gateway to global capital flows.
The company aims to enhance connections between investors and other industry participants while supporting their growth in knowledge and wealth. It also intends to continue collaborating with regulators, invest in local talent, and build partnerships as it scales its services across Singapore.
US Market Expansion
Prior to this announcement, eToro expanded the number of cryptocurrency assets available to users in the US, increasing the total count to over 50. The company added 34 new tokens, including Solana, Cosmos, Hedera, Filecoin, and Morpho.
This move was part of eToro’s ongoing strategy to expand its multi-asset investment options for US retail traders, complementing its existing services such as trading in equities, options, and ETFs. At the time, the company indicated that this initiative sought to provide greater flexibility to retail investors managing diversified portfolios.
